Advent Small Group
How does a weary world rejoice? Be a part of this small group Sunday mornings via Zoom.
Sunday Morning Drop-In Bible Study
Connect with FUMCAH friends AND with Scripture during our July Drop-In Bible Study. No preparation required; just meet us in the chapel to explore one selected passage from the Bible each Sunday.
You can greet some people at coffee fellowship, grab a beverage, and then make your way down the main floor hallway to the chapel. There are always lots of things going on in life; join us when you can.
On July 2, we'll read Matthew 10:40-42 and consider how we practice hospitality.
POLO Picnic & Playdate
POLO (Parents of Little/Loud Ones) will gather on the church grounds for a picnic and playdate - adults and children are welcome.
Contact Alicia Smith with any questions.
Sisters in the Summer
Our discussion prompt for Sisters in the Summer is the book Life Worth Living. Based on the most in-demand undergraduate class taught at Yale, the class and the book help people explore answers to "The Question." While The Question may differ slightly for different people, the aspect we'll discuss this summer is: What is the shape of a flourishing life? It will not be about starting life over or finding a new career or re-doing all your relationships. It will be about faithful ways to live abundantly.
Youth D&D Game Day
Please join us for another day of Dice, Paper, and Pen as we set off on another journey in the theater of the mind. We'll have characters available. Bring your lucky dice and a friend! RSVP as soon as you can. For any questions please contact Stephanie Sutton (847)452-8452.
*This event is for rising 6th-12th graders.
Monday Evening Book Discussion: Together
Connect with other adults from FUMCAH in reading and discussing Together: The Healing Power of Human Connection in a Sometimes Lonely World, by Vivek H. Murthy, MD. Murthy, former Surgeon General of the United States, makes the case that while technology and mobility have promised to connect us, they can also isolate. Dr. Murthy makes a powerful and convincing argument for why we can and must build a more connected world. You do not have to have completed the book to participate. Contact Chris Mier at cjrm2005@gmail.com for more information and the Zoom link.
Sisters for Spring
Sisters, our Wednesday evening spiritual discussion group for women, will begin reading (and talking about) a new book in February, Dusk Night Dawn by Anne Lamott. Each chapter "stands alone;" please join us when you can. While reading the book is encouraged, the book is a catalyst for the spirited and spirit-led discussion each Wednesday evening. We'll explore answers to your existing questions and help you ask plenty of new ones.
Gun Violence Book Study
Faith in Action will be leading the congregation in a shared inquiry of gun violence every Sunday in February. Our goal: To educate ourselves on the facts of gun violence and to explore our Christian responsibilities and resulting actions we can take to build God’s peaceable kingdom here on earth. We will begin by reading Collateral Damage: Changing the Conversation about Firearms and Faith by James Atwood. Starting on February 5, we will meet every Sunday in February from 4:00-5:15pm to discuss the book and share a light soup supper. Contact Robin Paul (robinpaulbooks@gmail.com) if you would like to join.
FAB (Friends, Allies, and Brunch)
FAB (Friends, Allies, and Brunch) will meet on January 29, after worship. Meet at FUMCAH's west entrance.
