Arlington Heights People’s Rally Calls Us to Action

A People’s March rally, sponsored by WomensMarch.com, was held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Dunton Park in downtown Arlington Heights. The purpose of the rally was to provide an opportunity for the local community to demonstrate their continued support and commitment to equal and fair rights for all, ahead of the Presidential Inauguration on Monday, January 20, 2025.

In chilling weather, the crowd of approximately 100+ people huddled together to listen to human rights leaders and local board, trustee and elected officials urging calls to action, in the wake of multiple existing rights and protections now being rescinded under the new Presidential administration.

Speakers included local ACLU leadership, Pinta Pride Parade founder, Carolyn Pinta, Democratic party officials, party organizers, and various candidates running for office in Wheeling Township and other nearby districts.

The message each of the speakers shared was clear. Only by becoming involved locally can we successfully effect change close to home, state-wide and nationally.

Asks included:

  • Run for key positions in order to influence outcomes

  • Support board members, trustees and candidates that support the key issues

  • Attend and speak up at board, city, township, and district meetings

  • Write letters, send emails and call elected officials on behalf of the issues

  • Participate in organized marches, rallies, and events

  • Share opportunities to help with others
