The King Center | The Center for Nonviolent Social Change
In conjunction with FUMCAH’s MLK Service Day on January 20, our mission of the month for January is The King Center. Established in 1968 by Mrs. Coretta Scott King, The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta (“The King Center”) is both a traditional memorial and programmatic nonprofit. The King Center was envisioned by Coretta Scott King to be “no dead monument, but a living memorial filled with all the vitality that was his, a center of human endeavor, committed to the causes for which he lived and died.”
Their mission is to empower people to create a just, humane, equitable and peaceful world by applying Dr. King’s nonviolent philosophy and methodology (Nonviolence365) through research, education, training, advocacy and activism.
