Missions
Giving to Mission
The Advance for Christ and His Church is the United Methodist program for designated mission giving. The Missions Committee works to educate the congregation and raise money for a different Advance program each month. These funds enable the church to “advance” the cause of Christ by supporting, among other things, new church development, disaster relief, missionary work, scholarships, health services, agricultural and nutritional programs, and other evangelism, education, and humanitarian efforts.
We are a Rainbow Covenant church which means we make a commitment to support local, regional and international mission projects and ministries through the Rainbow Covenant. A Rainbow Covenant church must participate in the mission and ministry of the Northern Illinois Conference through 100% apportionment giving and in support of an Advance in each of 6 colors:
Red — International Advance Projects
Green — NIC Advance Projects
Orange — Disaster Relief Projects (UMCOR)
Blue — NIC District Advance Projects
Yellow — U.S. Based National Advance Projects
Purple — Missionary Support
