Join Pastor Melissa for a discussion of Wild Woman: A Footnote, The Desert, and My Quest for an Elusive Saint, by Amy Frykholm, while eating Middle Eastern food at Shish Kabob. In this book, Amy tells the story of her journey to discover Mary of Egypt, an elusive saint from the 5th century (maybe?). In the early pages of Amy's book she writes, "In the mythic world of Mary's story, no one ever makes spiritual progress by staying at home and thinking. To become a pilgrim is to take an inward journey by walking through actual time and space; one seeks the unknown world through both an inscape and a landscape. In other words, I had to go to the desert." Bewilderment becomes a cornerstone of Amy's journey. Bewilderment or be wild or be wilder. She explores the power of desire and how it can lead us to the heart of the holy.
