What Does Church Membership Mean?

  • First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights 1903 East Euclid Avenue Arlington Heights, IL, 60004 United States (map)

Is FUMCAH your church but you haven't officially joined yet? Are you curious about what it means to be a member and if it makes a difference? Some of the questions we'll answer: Are there annual dues? Is there a prescribed number of hours you're expected to volunteer? Is there a belief statement you're expected to sign? (Spoiler alert! We ask members to promise to support the church through their giving and their service, but it's up to everyone to decide the right amount for them. There's not a doctrinal statement that you're expected to recite, but there are a few common beliefs that hold us together). Join us for a class on what it means to be member.

New Members May Join on June 26
Sunday, June 26, during worship
You don't have to join the church in order to participate in its ministries. Membership isn't required to be part of the church's supportive community. Membership does not confer privileges. But it does strengthen ties. When you become a member of the congregation you say, in effect, "I choose this community of faith to be the place where I will work out what it means to follow Jesus." New members will join the church on June 26 during worship. To find out more about what membership means, you are invited to participate in a class on Thursday, June 16 at 7:30pm.
You don't need to come to the class in order to join. And taking the class doesn't obligate you to join.

Please RSVP for the class or to join the church at link.fumcah.com/membership.
