Night OWLS is a monthly recreational program for children with disabilities and their siblings. Each special needs child has an adult buddy; additional volunteers (youth and adults) help with programming for siblings.

VBS (Vacation Bible School) is a week-long children’s program that happens every summer. The day-camp like atmosphere is fun and engaging, giving children the opportunity to make friends and learn about God’s love.

FUMCAH knows that children learn in many ways, so we use art, games, science, music, large group activities, and small group projects to help children learn Bible stories and grow in their faith. Children are divided into age appropriate groups preschool through sixth grade that are led by trained, caring, screened adults.

We offer excellent, age-appropriate education and faith formation for children, from birth through 6th grade. All Sunday School classes are held during the 9:30 AM church service, following the service “Children’s Moment.”

Summer Sunday School

While Christian Education never takes a vacation, it does shift gears during the summer. Pre-school/Kindergarten classes are combined in room 100. Elementary school classes meet together on the lower level of the church in room 32. Nursery/Toddler Care continues through the summer.

Loving care is provided in the church nursery for the youngest members of our church family.

Pre-school and Kindergarten

Each week features a different Bible story and a variety of activities that reinforce Bible learning. Children who are 2 years old by September 1 meet in Room 100 on the main level, while children age 3 through kindergarten meet in Room 200 on the second floor.

Grades 1-6

Using a rotation method of faith formation, children meet with grade-level peers under the guidance of an adult Adventure Guide, and rotate to a different workshop each week. Each workshop teacher helps children explore the Bible story in a different way. Workshop locations are posted in the stairwell directories and at Festival Central, located on the lower level near the coat racks.

Children learn the importance of faith by participating alongside adults. Youth who are a full part of the life of a church are more likely to participate in a faith community as adults. Adults encounter faith in fresh ways when they follow the example of children.

Intergenerational worship and faith formation opportunities will engage your mind and your senses. You won’t just sit still, listening and watching someone else. You will interact by moving your body and using your mind. There will be moments of reverence, plenty of fun, and a variety of ways to encounter God and other people.
