RefugeeOne Update

A team of mentors from FUMCAH has been visiting the family we are co-sponsoring with Refugee One every Saturday since their arrival. During their visits, they have been working on English language skills and helping them learn to navigate their neighborhood and local services. Thom Frerk brought his Arts Ministry to the family by painting a canvas with them to hang in their apartment. UMW provided clothing to the family from donations to the spring rummage sale and the mentors are working on supplying bikes to the older kids. The five oldest kids are enrolled in school and FUMCAH is starting weekly tutoring with them this week.

A report from the most recent mentor visit shared how the mentors can see so many changes since their first visits only 2 months ago. “The little girls now come up to us with big smiles and want to interact and touch us, what a change from the first weeks where they peeked out at us from behind mom or one of the older kids and avoided eye contact. You can also see the development of everyone's English skills, especially the older kids. You can even see the mother starting to use basic greetings.”

Thank you for your continued prayers and support of the family and our mentor team.
