Since our congregation joined the Reconciling Ministries Network in 2007 we’ve been internally invitational, listing both our Wednesday evening Rainbow Circle (inviting lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender persons into Christian community), as well as our support group, Pinwheels, for parents of gender non-conforming children ages 4 – 12 in our newsletters, bulletins, and program booklets. We have a large banner with our Welcoming statement in the entry hallway and reprint that statement in our bulletin and newsletter. All of this means that once people are inside they know of our welcome. During June, national Gay Pride month, we will post a rainbow flag on Euclid Avenue, a sign of welcome easily recognized by the LGBT community and their family and friends as they drive by. Let’s not keep our commitment to all God’s children a secret!
