A Wonderful Christmas for ChildServ thanks to YOU!

In the spirit of Christmas, our church once again generously gave to the 2011 ChildServe Holiday Gift Mission Project – but with a bit of a twist.  This year, due to our renovation, we requested donations in the form of gift cards.  Twenty-eight names of children were distributed for those who preferred to purchase the gifts themselves.  The rest were donations of $40 gift cards givn to ChildServ caseworkers who purchased the gifts.  In all, 125 disadvantaged children received Christmas gifts totaling approximately $6000 courtesy of our congregation.

This project was held in tandem with our Youth Group’s gift card fundraiser to benefit the Appalachian Service Project (ASP).  A percentage of the gift card purchases help fund their annual humanitarian trip to help rehabilitate homes in Appalachia.  Those who purchased their gift cards from the Youth Group contributed to both causes.
ChildServ’s mission is accomplished by providing leadership and programming that will educate children, families, and communities to overcome the challenges encountered by underserved children, youth, and families.  It’s success stems from its capacity to deliver effective, innovative services.  We are proud to help an organization with a long term vision for children.  A special thanks to Roylene Gallas for championing this cause every year!
